Win At All Costs
To the gentlemen pictured & indeed all other professional coaches & managers around the world .... winning is essential ...... afterall it is their job to win matches .... simple as that ...... player development on the other hand is about teaching players the game from the time they begin at around 5 years of age until they stop playing at whatever level they end up at .... there is a big difference to both approaches ..... our volunteers & parents, coaches & managers alike need to realise that they are not Sir Alex Ferguson or Kenny Dalglish & treat their players accordingly ..... the amount of games that we see week in week out that are influenced by the end result only is frightening .... players are being taught not to lose firstly , then secondly to do whatever it takes to win .... which is stunting freedom of expression & enjoyment .... players report regularly to feeling pressure to perform from their adult influences & this has to stop if we are to succeed in teaching a new breed of footballer .......
