What "Cabo" Is All About

Cabo Legend & Cougars star David Johnston wheels away in delight following his spectacular second goal .... Paul Byrne of Celtic fame throws his hands in the air to acclaim the great volley ......

The Irish legends including McGrath, Aldridge & McAteer rolled into town on Sat & between them & a spirited Cabo selection put on a feast of football for the large crowd in Kilbogget park ........the game finished 6-2 to the legends with some of the goals scored fitting for any world stage ....... the crowd got to see their heroes of yester year up close & personal .... the players themselves more than accomodating as they signed autographs & posed for pictures all day ..... young boys & girls from the playing ranks in Cabo were the mascots on the day ..... our small sided game stars put on a great game for entertainment at half time ...... our seniors helped out as stewards on the day ..... our members manned the burger shack & sweet shops ...... hundreds of people lent a hand to make this day special ...... this in itself is not a remarkable thing ...... Cabinteely have always put on a good show ..... you only have to look at our annual Mini World Cup as evidence of this ..... the real noteworthy element of the day will forever be remembered when people think back on the man of the match performance of ..... David Johnston ...... himself a legend in Cabo's special needs "Cougar" section ..... who outrageously stole the show from the many world cup & european championship stars appearing on the day ...... scoring two wonder goals & stealing the hearts of everyone in the crowd with his exuberent celebrations ...... this to me summed up everything good about Cabo .... it's ethos of Football For All ..... it's family like community spirit ...... it's wonderful people & of course .... it's amazing players ........... McAteer himself ran onto the pitch to share in David's joy following his second goal high fiving the young star to a standing ovation from the crowd ...... how many other clubs can claim to have such an inclusive & open approach to football development as Cabo ...... I have always been proud to be part of this great club ..... saturdays match & the spirit in which it was played has cemented my belief that Cabo is a great club ..... speaking to the legends about player development .... some of whom run academies in premier league clubs .... I am more than pleased to say they were united in their admiration for our coaching ethos & structures...... compounding for me my belief that the new approach that we are taking in trying to improve & develope the football side of the Club  ..... by raising knowledge & awareness through quality coaching is by far the right way to do things ...... "Football For All" will long live as the Cabinteely moto & really is what "Cabo" is all about .........
